Jean-Marc Brocard – Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 2020 (750ml) Hot on Sale

Description
94 points Decanter
As expected from the master, Jean-Marc Brocard, this is a very fine expression of Montée de Tonnerre which marries power and elegance in the same glass. Lovely purity on the nose with wildflowers and a hint of ripe peach. The palate is concentrated yet still very precise with citrus acidity and a long, lingering mineral finish. (AH) (10 2021)

Pure and focused, this is both pretty and powerful. Floral top notes accompany orchard fruits dusted with vanilla and anise. The palate is succulent with fruit yet rigorously structured by pungent minerality and bracing acidity. This wine comes from 30-year-old vines and sees exclusively stainless steel during fermentation and aging. (12 2021)

Note: this is mostly from Chapelot in 2020 An elegant, pure and equally airy nose is even more elegant with its combination of white flower, sea breeze, mineral reduction and quinine scents. The crystalline middle weight flavors are almost painfully intensity with superb length on the chiseled, stony and refreshing finish. This is really quite classy and a wine that should age effortlessly. *Burghound Sweet Spot Outstanding!* (10 2021)

End of year bottling. Fine clear pale lemon and lime. The bouquet shows discretion and intensity, less voluptuous than Vaulorent. Very well managed steely backbone, a liquorice note, more on white fruit. Really kicks on to finish, impressive. (6 2022)

The 2020 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru is clean and precise on the nose; bright and lively with citrus peel, crushed stone and lemon verbena make these aromatics irresistible. The palate is well balanced with a steely entry. Cohesive and mineral-driven, there is impressive weight and volume, wonderful persistence on the lightly spiced finish. Excellent. Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis. (NM) (9 2022)

Subtle, smoky notes of crushed salt and limestone lend a mineral backdrop to concentrated notes of orange peel and white grapefruit in this wine. Deep in extraction yet chiseled and steely, it s a ripe expression of Chablis balanced by a refreshingly stony, briny lift. (AI) (3 2022)
